This report shows a global perspective, national and regional analyzes of e-waste volumes and existing legislative instruments. While 71% of the world's population is covered by some form of e-waste policy, law or regulation, more enforcement and enforcement efforts are needed to promote adoption, collection and recycling infrastructure.
Monitoring the quantities and flows of e-waste is of crucial importance both to assess its evolution over time, and to set and evaluate goals for a sustainable society and a circular economy. Based on a solid set of data on e-waste, recycling infrastructures, sound policies and legal instruments can be developed more efficiently. The true nature of cross-border movements and, in some cases, illegal shipments will also not be understood without a global picture of this waste.
